Its statutory purpose is very large: to fund, through grants or loans, researches and initiatives that contribute in significant and innovative ways, to the human progress in science and in social development. Its current priorities are: the support for the emergence of a global community, the contribution to the revolution of governance to manage the interdependencies, the search for a universal ethics of responsibility, and the contribution to a sustainable society.
